Buddy is now 19 months old

My Lil buddy and I have accomplished, and experienced, many things since I last wrote in here.

We traveled to Rio Linda, California, for the Fila Spring Fling Show in Mid-June. We met many nice people. Buddy by this time is very choosy who he will allow to approach us. He does not like men in black hoody's! And they are told so in no uncertain terms.

He did well in his class and came home with 3 reds and a Reserve Champion Rosette.

People were always smiling because he is so devoted to me. When I sat he tried to get into my lap, then ended up standing with his head in my lap.

This was a mostly Fila show so the people were not upset by being told by a dog to stay away. Buddy is still much more mellow than most Fila's. Partly his temperament and a good deal my work. He has had many socializing experiences making him accept strange people and situations more than some Fila's might do. Mama has worked hard to accomplish this for both of our benefits

14 Months Old

Elgies Lil Buddy is 14 months old now and getting so he pays better attention to commands. He will heel and walk nicely beside Mama most of the time. He still can be very destructive of Mama's possessions which can be awfully frustrating at times.

We are working trying to get ready for the two shows coming up in June. His sister Olive is much more cooperative, but then she is a girl! Boys always take longer to learn routines in life. The Fila website also describes the males Fila as very destructive when young. Hopefully he ages sooner than later in this respect.

Buddy is still a Eukanuba Puppy and doing quite well on that diet. We have not gone and weighed Buddy for quite awhile. We will do that soon again. Buddy looks like he has gotten much bigger in the last month or more.

Poor Lil Buddy

Elgies Lil Buddy brought some sort of Bug home from the show at Ridgefield the end of February. He sneezed, coughed, vomited and had chills. All the other dogs he is around came down with it too. Mama kept Sadie and Penny from getting so ill. But Buddy's crept up and had a good hold before we realized what was happening. Kinda like a weasel in a chicken coup. Our Vet suggested it may have been H1N1.

But then his friends Miles, Andy and Pepper got it too. Andy ended up spending two nights at the Vets with tubes hanging out of him. To the tune of $800! It was a very expensive illness.

Olive and her house mates had the same experience but none of them ended up having to see a Vet.

Buddy has had all of his inoculations plus the stuff that goes up the nose (he wasn't happy with that one). So the illness had to be something not covered by the normal precautions.

My Lil Buddy is back to his naughty self. He is a very good reader these days. Really can devour a book in a few minutes that takes me a couple of days.

And if Mama forgets his nose is counter high and sets a beef roast out, it will mysteriously disappear. She is beginning to learn much to Buddy's sorrow. Mama love Buddy anyway!

My Lil Buddy is maturing. Each month he shows a better attitude. He even has learned to ignore the Jerk next door that try's to incite Buddy to do something aggressive. Kind of snubs the Guy now!

Buddy can really look sad when Timmy the cat takes his freshly filled bowl of food but he just sets and patiently waits his turn at his own food.

Olive and her Daddy in the ring

Sunny and her Mama in the Ring

Buddy and His Mama in the Ring

Piece out of the Local Paper

IABCA Show February 27 and 28

My Lil Buddy along with sister Olive and friend Sunny attended the IABCA Show in Ridgefield, Washington. It was way larger than the last one we attended there. We heard there were over 400 dogs attending. All of those did not enter all four shows though.

Mama was concerned that Buddy would do something to embarrass us and get us ask to leave. He has taken a great dislike to other male dogs.

But we walked in the door and boy was the place crowded! Mama had Buddy on a very short lead. Holding his head by her leg. Well another dog jumped Buddy. Mama said "NO" and jerked the lead and Buddy hit the floor on his belly. What a GOOD Boy!

There were nine show rings this time. There had only been 5 or 6 last fall. Buddy's first show was scheduled for 10:30 am. Sister Olive was in the ring just after Buddy. Buddy got a first and so did Olive. Then they had to compete with each other. Olive won that one .

Our afternoon show was actually scheduled for 11:am. But that Judge was very slow and we did not actually get into the ring until about 2 pm.

Sunny's second Judge was also very slow! This caused a lot of confusion

Poor Buddy, because of the confusion as to when he was to go into the ring, Mama did not take Buddy for a walk until after the second show. As we walked out of the door Buddy began leaving a wet strip! Mama said No and he quit. We hurried to the grassy area so he could get some much needed relief!

It was little Sunny's first Show and she was not quite sure if she appreciated these strangers poking and prodding her.

Buddy and Mama were quite tired when they went home. When Buddy has a tiring day he always wants to cuddle with Mama at night.
